It’s almost here!
We can’t believe that October 17th is almost here! We are so excited to share our special day with all of you. We wanted to reach out and give you a few reminders and a few more details. Please read this ENTIRE email. Yes, it’s a bit long, but we don’t want you to miss any important information.
Friday, October 16th
Dinner at the Inn at Glen Alpine
- For those who,RSVP’d for dinner on Fridaynight, please arrive at the Inn at Glen Alpine NO LATER THAN 7pm. Dinner will begin promptly at 7pm.
- Dress is casual.
- The main course will be shrimp and grits. We’ll have them several different ways. We also plan to have salad, biscuits, roasted fall vegetables and cake. Water and Adult beverages will be provided. Feel free to bring your own soda, tea, etc. No other alcohol please.
- We have the venue until 10pm. Noise ordinances prevent us from staying longer.
- The address for the Inn is 105 Davis St, Morganton, NC 28655.
- If you are staying at the Inn you may park in the Guest Parking lot. Otherwise, look for the Event Parking signs and park in the field across from the Inn.
- Here are directions:
o From I-40 Eastbound (45 miles from Asheville):
• Take Exit 100 – Jamestown Road/Glen Alpine
• Turn right at the light at the end of the exit
o From I-40 Westbound (25 miles from Hickory):
• Take Exit 100 – Jamestown Road/Glen Alpine.
• Turn left at the light at the end of the exit
o THEN
• Travel 7/10ths of a mile and turn right, following the signs for the Elementary School and Glen Alpine
• Continue 2 miles to the stop sign (Highway 70 – “Main Street”)
• Proceed straight through the stop sign and cross over the railroad tracks
• Once across the tracks you will pass the Post Office and the Fire/Police Station immediately on your right
• Turn right onto Davis Street 25 feet past the station
• The Inn is the third house on the left.
Saturday, October 17th
Celebrations
- We respectfully ask that you REFRAIN/LIMIT your celebrations with adult beverages prior arrival to Silver Fork Winery. There will be plenty of time and opportunities there.
- Prior to the ceremony, wine by the glass will be available for $5 per glass, limit 2 per person.
- Also, we ask that you keep it classy at the Silver Fork!
- A sparkling wine toast will follow the ceremony.
- Craft beer, craft hard cider, and Silver Fork wine will be available at the open bar after the toast while supplies last
- Food trucks will be providing the food. Once the windows open, you can go order your dinner yourself.
- There will no assigned seats. Find a seat and mingle.
Children
- We respectfully ask that there be no children over the age of 1 outside of our nieces and nephew. While we love your children, we don’t love them at our wedding. Thanks for understanding.
Dress
- Casual dress please. Nice Jeans, a nice shirt and good shoes; that’s all you need. No one needs a fancy dress or suit and tie.
- Please bring a jacket, coat and/or blanket, as we will be outside for the evening. It can get cool in mid-October in Western NC.
Gifts
- We request NO gifts for us. INSTEAD, we will have a donation box for cash/checks to be split amongst our nieces and nephew for depositing into their college funds. We’ll buy savings bonds with the funds collected.
- Also, be sure to sign in when you arrive! Look for our nieces to direct you.
Transportation
- If you requested wedding day transportation, please be sure we know where you’re staying. Due to time constraints prior to the ceremony, the shuttle will only stop at the Hampton Inns in Marion and Morganton and the Inn at Glen Alpine.
- Here is the shuttle schedule:
- 3:00pm – Departs Silver Fork
- 3:15pm – Pickup at Hampton Inn – Marion
- 3:45pm – Pickup at Inn at Glen Alpine
- 4:05pm – Arrive at Silver Fork
- 4:10pm – Depart Silver Fork
- 4:30pm – Arrive at Hampton Inn – Morganton
- 4:35pm – Depart Hampton Inn – Morganton
- 4:55pm – Arrive at Silver Fork
Music
- Use your USB stick to download music for us to play at the wedding.
- Upon arrival, please find the Music Station (planned to be on the porch) and plug your USB drive in the computer. Drag your songs do the “Wedding Music” folder. We’ll have someone load them in the iTunes Library AFTER the toast.
Smoking at Silver Fork
- SILVER FORK WINERY LLC is a non‐smoking venue. Ashtrays will be provided and smoking permitted only in designated areas. Under NO circumstance is there smoking permitted IN the vineyard or vineyard rows.

From Asheville and Points West/Southwest:
- Take I-40 East to exit 94 – Dysartsville Road.
- Turn RIGHT onto Dysartsville Road.
- Go 2.1 miles.
- Turn LEFT onto Patton Road.
- Destination is .9 miles on the LEFT.
From Hickory and Points East/North/Northeast:
- Take I-40 West to exit 94 – Dysartsville Road.
- Turn LEFT onto Dysartsville Road.
- Go 2.3 miles.
- Turn LEFT onto Patton Road.
- Destination is .9 miles on the LEFT.
From Charlotte and Points South:
- Take I-85 South to exit 17 – US 321 North toward Lincolnton.
- Turn LEFT on US 321 North.
- Follow US 321 North for 32 miles.
- Take exit 43A-43B for I-40 West toward Asheville.
- Keep LEFT at the fork and merge onto I-40 West.
- Take I-40 West to exit 94 – Dysartsville Road.
- Turn LEFT onto Dysartsville Road.
- Go 2.3 miles.
- Turn LEFT onto Patton Road.
- Destination is .9 miles on the LEFT.
Sunday, October 18th
Trip to Asheville
- For those who RSVP’d for Sunday, you will receive a separate communication.
- We will likely leave Marion around 10:30am.
