Also, we&#8217;ll be posting a Month in Review list shortly.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/22: 2011 Sangiovese from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.childressvineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">Childress Vineyards<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; This easy going red wine has a nice balance of fruit and tannins. \u00a0We enjoyed this bottle at Sixth &amp; Vine in Winston-Salem with the owners of Starrlight Meads! \u00a0An excellent wine selection\u00a0for dinner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/23: 2014 Grey Ghost from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jolovineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">JOLO Vineyards<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; This Vidal Blanc was bright and cheery with a sumptuous apple note. \u00a0The aromatics of the wine rounded out the flavors and finished on a nice mineral note.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/24: 2008 Barrel X from <a href=\"http:\/\/stonefieldcellars.com\" target=\"_blank\">Stonefield Cellars<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; Wow! \u00a0This wine is really something. \u00a0The huge bold aromas\u00a0of toasted cocoa nubs and vanilla leads you into the smooth cherry and currant flavors. \u00a0The complex tannin structure was slightly cigar box in nature, but then finished with a hint of chalk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/25: 2013 Centennial Farm Heritage from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saintpaulmountainvineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">St. Paul Mountain Vineyard<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; One of the few vineyards that grows Riesling, this one does not disappoint. \u00a0The flavors are bright and crisp with apples and pears, fading into a slight floral finish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/26: 2010 Traminette Divine from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.divinellamavineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">Divine Llama Vineyards<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; A Traminette like no other, this oaked white adds a layer of depth and complexity. Still rich in poached apples and pears, the flavors are more developed than a traditional stainless version.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/27: <a href=\"http:\/\/ourcarolinafoothills.com\/events\/taste-of-our-carolina-foothills-a-wine-food-event-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Taste of Our Carolina Foothills<\/a> at Overmountain\u00a0Vineyards<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Sponsored by Our Carolina Foothills, this event had around 30 different local area businesses with food, wine, cider, and beer. \u00a0 Of the North Carolina Wineries, we sampled from <a href=\"http:\/\/overmountainvineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">Overmountain Vineyards<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbrookvineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">Mountain Brook Vineyards<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/parker-binnsvineyard.com\" target=\"_blank\">Parker-Binns Vineyards<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/russianchapelhill.com\" target=\"_blank\">Russian Chapel Hill Winery<\/a>. \u00a0An excellent event even with the rain!<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/28: 2012 Shipwreck from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanctuaryvineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">Sanctuary Vineyards<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; A robust red blend of Syrah and Merlot, this wine had a bold fruit flavor profile with a deliciously spicy finish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/29: 2011 Tannat from <a href=\"http:\/\/herreravineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">Herrera Vineyards<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Another bold red with a light cherry flavor and pleasantly dry finish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/30: 2007 Red Bud Ridge from <a href=\"http:\/\/brushymountainwine.com\" target=\"_blank\">Brushy Mountain Winery<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; A great finale to the month. \u00a0A delicate red blend with hints of leather, cedar and a light red fruit profile.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Check out our other NC Wine Month postings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[su_posts template=&#8221;templates\/teaser-loop.php&#8221; id=&#8221;156, 696&#8243; posts_per_page=&#8221;-1&#8243; post_type=&#8221;page&#8221; taxonomy=&#8221;post_tag&#8221; tax_operator=&#8221;0&#8243; order=&#8221;asc&#8221; orderby=&#8221;id&#8221;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s hard to believe that the end of the month is already here. \u00a0This past week brought with it more reds and a scattering of whites to change things up. \u00a0Here&#8217;s our list. \u00a0Don&#8217;t forget, you can also follow our progress on the\u00a0NC Wine Month 2015 Challenge\u00a0page.
