\u00a0The wine selections last week were just as good as the previous week. \u00a0Here&#8217;s what we had. \u00a0Don&#8217;t forget, you can also follow our progress on the <a href=\"http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/index.php\/nc-wine-month-2015-challenge\/\">NC Wine Month 2015 Challenge<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/8: Sauvignon Blanc from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.irongatevineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">Iron Gate Vineyards<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; Medium-bodied with white peaches and honeysuckle. \u00a0A sure treat from the Haw River Valley.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/9: Chardonnay from <a href=\"http:\/\/laurelgray.com\" target=\"_blank\">Laurel Gray Vineyards<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; A stainless steel Chardonnay that reminds you that not all Chardonnay needs to be oaked. \u00a0A creamy butter note with hints of baked apples and wet stone flavors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/10: Petit Verdot from <a href=\"http:\/\/sheltonvineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">Shelton Vineyards<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; This dark purple wine has a nose rich in plums and spices with flavors to match. \u00a0A delicate molasses finish added to the richness of the wine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/11: Cabernet Sauvignon from <a href=\"http:\/\/parker-binnsvineyard.com\" target=\"_blank\">Parker-Binns Vineyards<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; An excellent example of what North Carolina Cabernet Sauvignon is like. \u00a0Delicate flavors with a softer edge than west coast cabs. \u00a0Charred fruits and cedar made for a delicious wine to kick off the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/12:<\/strong> \u00a0We had a group of friends over to celebrate two milestone birthdays. \u00a0Up first we had the <strong>Blanc de Blancs from <a href=\"http:\/\/mcritchiewine.com\" target=\"_blank\">McRitchie Winery<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0A chardonnay bubbly\u00a0with a rich flavor and nice finish. \u00a0Next was the <strong>Dry Riesling from <a href=\"http:\/\/dobbinscreekvineyards.com\" target=\"_blank\">Dobbins Creek Vineyards<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0Bone dry with notes of pears and honeysuckle with a delicate acid backbone. \u00a0We marinated our steaks in some <strong>Chambourcin from <a href=\"http:\/\/mistycreekwines.com\" target=\"_blank\">Misty Creek Vineyards<\/a><\/strong> and had a bit left over. \u00a0Soft flavors with a big spice note throughout. \u00a0For the entr\u00e9e, we had the <strong>Barbera from <a href=\"http:\/\/brandonhillsvineyard.com\" target=\"_blank\">Brandon Hills Vineyards<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0This food\u00a0friendly wine was rich in vanilla with a robust cherry undertone. \u00a0Finally, for dessert we had the <strong>Apple Tipper from <a href=\"http:\/\/fairgamebeverage.com\" target=\"_blank\">Fair Game Beverage Company<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0A fortified wine made\u00a0with Hendersonville Apples, it was crisp and delicious with a slight caramel finish. \u00a0(There was also a Caymus Cab Sauv in there too, but we&#8217;re keeping it NC here.) \u00a0What a night!<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/13: Petit Manseng from <a href=\"http:\/\/jonesvondrehle.com\" target=\"_blank\">Jones Von Drehle Vineyards<\/a> <\/strong>&#8211; Tropical notes all around with this wine. \u00a0Heavy on the mango and pineapple on the nose, the palate was more apple-pineapple in profile. \u00a0It finished on a slight creamy note.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9\/14: Girasole from <a href=\"http:\/\/raffaldini.com\" target=\"_blank\">Raffaldini Vineyards<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; We went from tropical one day to strawberries the next. \u00a0The nose was full of strawberry pie aromas. \u00a0The big strawberry flavors were plentiful and lasted until the very end.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Check out our other NC Wine Month postings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[su_posts template=&#8221;templates\/teaser-loop.php&#8221; id=&#8221;156, 696&#8243; posts_per_page=&#8221;-1&#8243; post_type=&#8221;page&#8221; taxonomy=&#8221;post_tag&#8221; tax_operator=&#8221;0&#8243; order=&#8221;asc&#8221; orderby=&#8221;id&#8221;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Week 2 is now behind us and we&#8217;re now half way through the month and #WineChat with #NCWines is tomorrow!
