Two Wines for Thought"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We\u00a0do not\u00a0often post about wines from outside of North Carolina, but occasionally we do make an exception.\u00a0We were contacted by Sue Tipton, the owner and winemaker of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acquiescevineyards.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Acquiesce Winery<\/a> in Lodi, California.\u00a0She asked us if we would like to sample two of her favorite wines accompanied by two exceptional food pairings.\u00a0We figured it has been a while since our <a href=\"http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/index.php\/acquiesce-winery-vineyards-lodi-ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">last visit<\/a>, so why not take up the offer.\u00a0The wines in this package were the 2018\u00a0Bourboulenc\u00a0and the 2018 Clairette Blanche.\u00a0Read on for more about Acquiesce Winery and our thoughts on the wine and food pairings.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acquiesce<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We first heard of Acquiesce Winery when we attended the <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/index.php\/reflecting-wbc16-insights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2016 Wine Bloggers Conference<\/a> (now called the Wine Media Conference).\u00a0At the conference, people highly recommended we make it a point to stop at Acquiesce Winery before we left Lodi.\u00a0On the last day of the conference, we packed up our things, typed Acquiesce Winery in Google Maps and drove out for our visit.\u00a0We were so happy we did.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acquiesce Winery is unique among Lodi wineries.&nbsp;When you think of Lodi, you typically think of Zinfandel or other reds.&nbsp;However, Sue Tipton draws her inspiration from elsewhere.&nbsp;She initially fell in love with the white wines of French Rhone, and her wine offerings reflect just that.&nbsp;Instead of Zins and Cabs,&nbsp;you will&nbsp;find Grenache Blanc,&nbsp;Picpoul&nbsp;Blanc, Clairette Blanche,&nbsp;Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Viognier, and a rose made from Grenache (the lone red grape grown just for rose).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we visited Acquiesce Winery for the first time, we were hooked.&nbsp;We are&nbsp;huge fans of Rhone style wines and Sue does an excellent job of bringing a taste of the Rhone to Lodi.&nbsp;The wines that Sue sent are two varietals that are very uncommon to most wine drinkers.&nbsp;The&nbsp;Bourboulenc&nbsp;and the Clairette Blanche are&nbsp;most found&nbsp;in the Southern Rhone however the&nbsp;combined&nbsp;acreage is right around 10,000 acres.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2018 Bourboulenc<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-top\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BIRU-WP-20171108T135124GMT-0500-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Bourboulenc Vines at Acquiesce Winery\" class=\"wp-image-2302\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BIRU-WP-20171108T135124GMT-0500-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BIRU-WP-20171108T135124GMT-0500-1-113x150.jpg 113w, http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BIRU-WP-20171108T135124GMT-0500-1-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BIRU-WP-20171108T135124GMT-0500-1-840x1120.jpg 840w, http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BIRU-WP-20171108T135124GMT-0500-1-687x916.jpg 687w, http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BIRU-WP-20171108T135124GMT-0500-1-414x552.jpg 414w, http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BIRU-WP-20171108T135124GMT-0500-1-354x472.jpg 354w, http:\/\/ncwineguys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BIRU-WP-20171108T135124GMT-0500-1.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Acquiesce is the first winery in the US to release a single varietal wine.\u00a0The aromas were perfumed and fragrant highlighting apricots and delicate white flowers.\u00a0Flavors were\u00a0lively\u00a0with\u00a0candied\u00a0apricots up front.\u00a0The mid-palate\u00a0moved to a rich mineral complexity with tangerine peel and citrus oils coming through.\u00a0It finished on a long drawn out note.\u00a0Sue recommended we pair this wine with the tuna pate.
