Tonight’s feature is the McRitchie Muscat Blanc. \u00a0It comes from a small winery in the Yadkin Valley, McRitchie Winery<\/a> and Ciderworks. \u00a0McRitchie has a small vineyard on property but works with other local farmers to source their grapes for their wide variety of wines. \u00a0They are a small-scale winery, selling mainly out of their tasting room but they are expanding as their following grows. \u00a0In addition to wines, they also produce a few ciders made from local apples (and this fall, they will have a pear cider too).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The wine we selected for this evening was their Muscat Blanc. \u00a0This is a white wine varietal with a slightly floral and spicy nose. \u00a0It almost reminded us of a Gew\u00fcrztraminer with light perfume notes. \u00a0To say this is a white wine is almost a mistake as well. \u00a0It is incredibly pale in color almost as clear as water; some might say grey. \u00a0The flavor profile of this wine is very pronounced starting off with bright apricots and citrus fruits laced with honeysuckle. \u00a0The wine finishes with a note of wet stones and a well-balanced mineral complexity. \u00a0We paired our wine with a soyrizo and sweet potato empanadas. \u00a0The light spice profile complemented the wine nicely.<\/p>\n

McRitchie winery is located in Thurmond, North Carolina,\u00a0 Their wines are available online<\/a>\u00a0and they will ship orders as well. \u00a0The winery is a must visit as they have a quaint setting, delicious wines and a welcoming staff.
